Exclusive Interview with D’Marq: “DMus is the echo of everything I lived with Paranoia Urbana… now reimagined.”

In this exclusive sit-down with Danilo Márquez, known artistically as D’Marq, we dive into the origins and vision behind DMus—the virtual band emerging under the wings of DMusic Radio and its label DMusic Records. From his roots as the drummer of Venezuela’s alternative rock band Paranoia Urbana, to leading his own musical universe, D’Marq opens up about memory, emotion, and the art of reinvention.

DMusic Radio: Let’s start from the beginning. What inspired the creation of DMus?

D’Marq: DMus came from a deep personal need—emotional and creative. I had this old notebook filled with lyrics I wrote back in my Paranoia Urbana days, when I was just a drummer with stories no one had heard. Years later, I opened it again and felt like those words still had life. So instead of forming a traditional band, I built one that would work on my terms—sonically, emotionally, and artistically. That’s how DMus was born, through the support of DMusic Records and connected with DMusic Radio, which made the platform real..

DMusic Radio: Was it difficult reconnecting with those older songs?

D’Marq: Honestly, yes. It wasn’t just reading lyrics—it was unlocking memories, emotions, and versions of myself I had left behind. Some songs were ready. Others needed to evolve. But thanks to the tools available today, I could produce and bring them to life, using my real voice and style. The tech helped me shape it, but the soul is all mine.

DMusic Radio: DMus now has two completed albums: Sueños Resilientes and Apasionado. How would you describe them?

D’Marq: Sueños Resilientes is about survival. It’s the story of emotional scars turned into strength. Very introspective, almost raw. Apasionado, on the other hand, is more explosive. It deals with love, desire, emotional fire. It’s bold, loud, and full of intensity. Together, they show two different sides of the same story—mine.

DMusic Radio: You've also started producing albums under your solo name, D’Marq. What can you tell us about Ámame Vampiro and El Mago?

D’Marq: Both albums are still in production. Ámame Vampiro explores darker, obsessive aspects of love, almost theatrical in its approach. El Mago is more philosophical, a reflection on life’s illusions and the invisible forces that move us. These projects let me go deeper into personal and poetic terrain. They’re coming, and they’ll show a different face of who I am.

DMusic Radio: Are you working on any collaborations?

D’Marq: Not at the moment, but I’m open to it. If a singer connects with my songs and wants to perform them, we can discuss it through formal agreements. And if anyone needs lyrics—I’m here. Writing for others is something I also enjoy.

DMusic Radio: How does DMusic Radio fit into all of this?

D’Marq: It’s the heartbeat. DMusic Radio is the platform where this whole creative journey lives and breathes. It’s not just a station—it’s a home for independent, passionate music with purpose. It gave DMus a voice, and it can do the same for many others.

DMusic Radio: Final message to those just discovering you?

D’Marq: Take the time to really listen. My music isn’t meant to just play in the background—it’s meant to connect. There’s pain in it, but also beauty. If even one song speaks to someone out there, then this project already fulfilled its mission.
