Interview with D´Márq – “Desenfocado was my fall; Inspírate is my rebirth”

DMusic Radio: Today we’re joined by D´Márq, real name Danilo Márquez, a musician and composer whose sound blends the intensity of rock en español, the raw emotion of grunge, and the atmospheric edge of industrial rock. His latest album, Desenfocado, has quickly become a powerful statement of emotion, chaos, and clarity. D´Márq, welcome to DMusic Radio. How do you feel about this release?

D´Márq: Honestly, I feel grateful — and free. Desenfocado came from a very personal place, a moment when everything around me was blurry and I was trying to find my focus again. The album became a reflection of that process, of facing the noise inside and transforming it into something real. It’s not just a record; it’s a piece of who I am.

The roots: Paranoia Urbana and DMus Band

DMusic Radio: Before Desenfocado, your musical story began long ago. Tell us about your beginnings.

D´Márq: My first real musical experience was with Paranoia Urbana back in the ’90s, where I was both the drummer and lyricist. That band shaped a huge part of who I am today. Playing drums taught me rhythm, discipline, and the power of raw energy; writing lyrics taught me how to translate emotions into words. Paranoia Urbana was pure intensity — a creative chaos that helped me understand that music could be both an explosion and a confession.

Then, in 2023, I created DMus Band, a personal project where I tried to merge different musical ideas and emotions. It was an important stage, even though it didn’t fully come together as I hoped. That experience pushed me to take a new path — to finally step out as a solo artist.

At the start of 2025, I released Sueños Resiliente, an album that had been ready since 2024, followed by Apasionado. Both of those records helped me define the emotional foundation that led to Desenfocado.

The concept behind Desenfocado

DMusic Radio: The title Desenfocado (“Out of Focus”) is intriguing. What does it mean to you personally?

D´Márq: It represents that moment when life becomes unclear — when you lose direction but keep moving anyway. The idea of being “out of focus” is deeply human; it’s about confusion, uncertainty, and the search for meaning. Through this album, I learned that not all clarity comes from light — sometimes it comes from the shadows.

The sound: A collision of emotions

DMusic Radio: The sound of Desenfocado blends rock, grunge, ballad, and industrial textures. How did you shape that sonic identity?

D´Márq: I didn’t want to limit myself. I grew up listening to everything from Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails to Rush and Gustavo Cerati. I wanted to fuse the intensity of alternative rock with the poetic soul of rock en español.
Desenfocado is a collision of noise and silence — heavy guitars, emotional vocals, and moments of fragile calm. It’s messy, it’s honest, and that’s exactly the point.

Track by track: Stories within Desenfocado

DMusic Radio: Let’s talk about the songs. The title track, Desenfocado, seems to define the entire album.

D´Márq: Absolutely. Desenfocado is the heart of the record. It’s about the inner struggle between clarity and confusion — about trying to understand yourself when everything feels blurred.

DMusic Radio: Luz Tersa, Caos Lúcido, and El Fin Terminó all explore very different emotions. What can you tell us about them?

D´Márq: Luz Tersa represents peace — that moment when calm finally returns after chaos. Caos Lúcido is the opposite: it’s about finding clarity through the noise, that paradoxical instant when disorder makes sense.
El Fin Terminó closes a chapter of pain but opens the door to something pure — the beginning of a new love found without searching. It’s about the beauty of rediscovery.

DMusic Radio: Then we have Línea Muerta, Reflejo Tenso, and Nombre Falso. Those titles alone feel heavy.

D´Márq: They are. Línea Muerta speaks of emotional disconnection, the silence after everything fades. Reflejo Tenso is about confronting yourself, about not recognizing the person in the mirror. Nombre Falso deals with identity — with pretending, wearing masks, and finally breaking free from them. It’s one of the most direct songs I’ve written.

DMusic Radio: And songs like La Hora Cero and Nadie Sabe?

D´Márq: La Hora Cero is a turning point — it’s about the exact moment everything changes. But it’s also about love: that unexpected connection that arrives when you least expect it and transforms everything.
Nadie Sabe dives deep into what we hide — the unspoken truths we carry in silence. It’s a song about vulnerability and honesty.

DMusic Radio: Ruido Blanco closes the album with intensity.

D´Márq: Yes, it’s the mental overload — the endless thoughts, the confusion that fills your head until you can’t hear yourself anymore. But when the noise fades, there’s peace. That’s why Ruido Blanco ends the album: it’s the release after the storm.

The next chapter: Inspírate

DMusic Radio: You’ve mentioned a new project titled Inspírate. What can you tell us about it?

D´Márq: Inspírate is the continuation of Desenfocado — the next chapter in the story. If Desenfocado was about chaos, confusion, and emotional struggle, Inspírate is about rebirth. It’s the moment after you’ve survived the darkness and you’re ready to breathe again.
It’s not just an album; it’s a message to myself and to anyone who listens: you can start over, even after breaking apart. Sonically, it will keep the emotional depth of Desenfocado but with more light, more hope, and more open soundscapes.

Looking back and forward

DMusic Radio: After everything you’ve lived through — Paranoia Urbana, DMus Band,  and now your solo work — how do you see your artistic evolution?

D´Márq: It’s been a journey of learning, falling, and rebuilding. Paranoia Urbana gave me the discipline to compose and the emotion to write ; DMus Band gave me the courage to create; Desenfocado gave me the honesty to expose myself; and Inspírate is giving me the hope to start again.

Every stage has been necessary. I’m proud of where I’ve been and excited about where I’m going.

The new album, Inspírate, will also include an e-book, which tells the true story behind Desenfocado and Inspírate: a deeper look into the journey that connects them.

Final words

DMusic Radio: What would you like listeners to take away from Desenfocado and from your music in general?

D´Márq: I’d like them to feel understood — to know that confusion, loss, and emotional chaos are part of being alive. But there’s always something waiting beyond that: light, clarity, inspiration.
Music saved me, and I hope Desenfocado or Inspírate can do the same for someone else.

DMusic Radio: D´Márq, thank you for opening up and sharing your story with us.

D´Márq: Thank you for the space. Every song is a piece of my truth, and I’m grateful that people can connect with it. This is just the beginning — Desenfocado was the fall, Inspírate is the rebirth.
